Methods of Entry

GROUP -‘X’

Technical Trades (16 to 22 years)

The candidate should have passed Intermediate / 10+2 or equivalent examination with Mathematics, Physics and English and a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.

OR

Three year Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics/Automobile/Computer Science/Instrumentation Technology) from a Govt. recognized Polytechnic/Institute.

GROUP -‘Y’

All Group ‘Y’ trades (16 to 20 years)

Passed Intermediate/10+2 or equivalent with a minimum aggregate score of 50% with pass marks in English .

Education Instructor Trade

(20 to 25 years)

    1. Graduation with a teaching Degree or Diploma of a recognized University with a minimum 50% aggregate marks in each qualification

OR

    1. B.A. (Hons)/B.Sc(Hons)/BCA with a minimum score of 50% marks.

OR
(20 to 28 years)

  1. A minimum second class M.A. in English/M.Sc in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science or MCA.

Interviews :  Candidates passing both Written Test & PFT are to be interviewed by a team of officers & Warrant Ranks. Those who are recommended in interview will be medically examined by Recruitment Medical Team as per Indian Air Force Medical Standards. Those who are recommended in interview and Medically Fit will only be considered for final selection.

Medical & Physical Criteria

  • Candidates must have at least 152.5 cms Height.
  • Chest: Minimum expansion is 5 cm.
  • Weight: According to age and Height.
  • Corneal Surgery (PRK/ Lasik) will not be acceptable in IAF Bharti.
  • Applicants who have permanent tattoo are required to submit a photo of the tattoo with information.

IAF X & Y Trade 2017 Pay Scale

For Group X (Technical) Trades will be Paid Rs. 24,900 in a month.

For Group Y (Non-Technical) Trade Will be paid only Rs. 20,500/- in a month.

IAF Airmen Exam Pattern

Applicants who want to crash the IAF Exam can pay attention the Exam Pattern & Syllabus. Applicants must Download the IAF X & Y Group Exam Pattern & Syllabus by which they start their preparation according to their pattern.

  • Test Paper for Group X Technical Traders commonly Compromises of question on English, Physics and Mathematics.
  • Total Time Duration of Written Exam is 1 Hours.
  • Test Paper for Group Y Technical Traders commonly Compromises of question on English, Physics and Mathematics.
  • Total Time Duration of Written Exam is 45 Minutes.

From Airmen to Commissioned Officer : Promotion Prospectus exist up to the rank of Master Warrant officer (MWO). Opportunities to become a Commissioned Officer also exist for those airmen who qualify the prescribed examinations later during their service career.
